Windows 7

Well, I just heard about windows 7 in our CICCT fun day last friday, February 20, 2009.  The new operating system of windows was presented by Tim Vergel de Dios, Developer Evangelist of Microsoft Philippines.

There were lots of new things in windows 7.  Our guest speaker said that the new operating system is faster, more liable, and makes it easier to do what you want.  There were lots of cool things.  The calculator has been improved.  The old windows calculator only has 2 basic interfaces, mainly, the basic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and scientific calculator.  With windows 7, three things were added.

- Statistics Calculator
- Programming Calculator (conversion of data types, main feature)
- Conversion of units (currency, temperature, length, weight, area, volume, speed, power, size)

Another impressive stuff is a program that takes pictures of a certain place with different angles.  Analyzes them and converts them to a 3D view.  You can move around the image.

There were lots of additionals to its interface functions like the new view of the taskbar, if you put your cursor to the lower right, all applications that are opened are minimized, putting 2 applications side by side would automatically tile these applications, and lots and lots of new stuffs.  And also, the way it reacts to touch screen LCD is superb because of its cool transitions.

Obama signs bill extending kids' health insurance

President Barack Obama
on Wednesday signed a bill extending health coverage to 4 million uninsured children, a move he called a first step toward fulfilling a campaign pledge to provide insurance for all Americans.

This is unbelievable, what is he doing?

I mean, the country has not yet able to stand firm because of the economic crisis and now he's extending health care insurance for kids? The cost of health care and the burden of health care financing would literally destroy the economic base of the country.

The amendment covers illegal aliens and adults over 30 years of age. How on earth are those people gonna stand up for themselves when they're sucking up other peoples fortune while those people worked hard for it.

I guess this would mean to say that all should "Work harder! Millions on welfare depends you"

The children's health bill calls for spending an additional $32.8 billion on SCHIPI, which now enrolls an estimated 7 million children. Lawmakers generated that revenue by raising the federal tobacco tax.

Health officials project that there are about 8 million to 9 million uninsured children in the United States.

The bill went to the White House fresh from passage in the Democratic-controlled House, on a vote of 290-135. Forty Republicans joined in approval.

Most Republicans, though, criticized the cost of the legislation. They also said it will mean an estimated 2.4 million children who otherwise would have access to private insurance will join the State Children's Health Insurance Program instead.
